Martin retired from the military after spending four years on active duty in the Marine Corps and twenty-two years, part-time and full-time, in the Illinois Army National Guard. While in the National Guard, Martin served in Iraq from 2005 – 2006 with the 2-130th Infantry Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

During different periods of his National Guard service, Martin owned or operated several small businesses, including a bar and live music venue.

After retiring from the military, Martin decided to attend law school and graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law. After graduation, he practiced business and employment law in Carbondale, Illinois before joining the faculty of SIU School of Law to reestablish its Veterans’ Legal Assistance Program.

While he continues to teach as an adjunct professor at SIU School of Law, he primarily focuses his time and effort on assisting entrepreneurs proactively protecting their small businesses and spending more time with his family.

Martin is fascinated with advances in technology in the legal profession and continually studies ways he can automate processes to provide legal services more efficiently and cost-effectively to small business owners.

My experience with Legal Advocacy Headquarters was best case scenario. My business models and services are not traditional and immediately I was greeted with willingness to understand my business, my problems, my vision for the future and was delivered solutions that will last far past this one situation. Working with startups, legal has always been one of the most costly and black box experience.

The turn around, the experience, and the affordability of professional services have put Legal Advocacy HQ on my short list for anyone needing legal. This changes everything for the area.
